Bridesmaids
I am lucky to have many amazing friends in my life. Michele was one of the very first friends I had when I moved to the states; I was around seven years old, and I barely spoke English. I used to look at her like she was the "cool girl" in school, and I was excited to be living in the same building as her. I spent a lot of time with her and her family as my mother would leave me with her family while she worked. They taught me important life lessons (e.g. being a Yankee fan, my love for pernil [pulled pork), and they became my second home. Throughout the years, Michele has always been there for me and, now, for me and my growing family. She is kind, outgoing, funny, and a one of a kind human being. Thirty years later, she still a cool girl and is now my maid of honor.
Brigitte came to life when I was much older. She was a little girl. A little girl who would come out with my friends and I. She lived with us for so many years that it felt like she was my younger sister. I felt the need to protect her, guide her, and love her. I have been her confidant, her 'go to' when things go wrong. However, what she doesn’t realize is that throughout the years, she has become my rock . She has become the person I need when I’m down and has been my voice of reason. Her noble heart and love for life has helped me through my toughest times. And that is why she is also my maid of honor.
